Vision Casting

20-20 Valley Vision: Twenty-somethings having long-term effects (twenty years) on the Lehigh Valley.

Let me take a moment to cast a vision for the Lehigh Valley...

I see a night, every three months (quarterly), where twenty-somethings around the Valley gather to worship God, declare Him Sovereign over the Valley, and fellowship together to break down cultural and denominational boundaries. We will seek to learn about the needs of the Valley, hear about the ministries of churches and organizations around our communities, and listen to personal testimonies of those who have been touched by God's actions in the Valley. Most of all, we will promote action in and around the Valley and support and encouragement for anyone that desires to further the Kingdom in practical ways.

What would it be like to worship togehter with 20-somethings in the valley? POWERFUL. Not in our power but in the power of God. I know that there are others out there desiring a 20 something Christian networks/events...I think that you are onto something here.

A vision, as Isaiah tells us, is only rhetoric unless those who are putting it forth have become the vision.

How many of us are becoming poor for the poor or living in broken exploited neighborhoods?

Who amongst us are living at risk for those who are at risk?

Hom many of us are tearing away from our cultural, family & church expectations and choosing instead to invest into our ultimate future rather than our temporal one?

How many of us have sacrificed the comfort and saftey of the suburbs and made the corner of a tough neighborhood our sanctuary, the curb our pulpit, and those who linger there our congregation? How many of us are willing to make it your home?

If we desire God’s justice on behalf of the oppressed, then we must suffer oppression and be prepared to face injustice in many forms.

For your vision comes at a high price as it is with any dream of transformational hope.

It is Christ who became the fatherless, the orphan, poor, alien, broken for us. So then are we not called...all of us...to be like Christ and therefore do the same?

Perhaps you are already and I rejoice and vastly more importantly the Lord does!

Either way, I invite you to my hood in the Valley at any time to walk and pray the streets, serve the oppressed, learn from each other, and help make your vision a reality.
